"Tips for a Smooth Morning for your Pre-K
Student"
1. Your child's morning begins with a good night's rest. It is
suggested your child usually be in bed by no later than 8:00 P.M.
Establish a quiet bedtime ritual that works for your family (a story
time, a prayer time, a soft music time, or a cuddle time).
2. To relieve morning stress, choose and set out weather
appropriate clothing choices the night before. If possible, allow
your child to help with the selection process to ensure a wise
decision. Let your child know that there will be no changes in
wardrobe selection unless weather mandates. Tennis shoes are
always appropriate for everyday school. For your child's safety,
sandals and boots are not recommended.
3. A non-rushed, nutritious breakfast is important to your child's
well being. Please try to allow ample time for a calm and pleasant
meal. To accomplish this goal you may need to rise 15 minutes
earlier than desired.
4. Please be sure to bring your child's book bag with the EMPTY
folder to school daily. Review your child's work the night before
to provide adequate time to discuss your child's progress. Look
for any notes from the school or teacher that may apply to your
child. Any notes you wish to send to the teacher or office should
be placed into their work folder. Also remember toys are to be left
at home except when requested.
5. Separation anxiety is a common back-to-school occurrence.
To help your child feel more at ease, reassure your child that you
will return at the end of the day. At the door, hug and kiss
good-bye is absolutely appropriate and suggested. Parental
lingering tends to prolong unnecessary anxiety for your child.
We hope you have found these suggestions to be informative and
helpful. Remember, a good night leads to a good morning that
leads to a good Pre-K day for all.
